What is a glove box?
A glove box is a laboratory device that fills a high-purity inert gas into a tank and circulates the active material therein. Also known as vacuum glove box, inert gas protection box, etc. The main function is the removal of O2, H2O and organic gases. It is a fully enclosed cavity that completely separates the inside and outside of the box. The side of the box is fitted with windows and operating gloves. The operator operates the products in the box through gloves.
The glove box has many uses:
1) The glove box protects the operator and the environment when handling toxic and hazardous materials;
2) When the atmospheric environment substances such as bacteria and dust will contaminate the material, the glove box can be used to isolate the material outside the box and protect the material inside the box from contamination;
3) When the air will interact with the material to affect the performance of the material, the glove box can be filled with inert gas. The box is used to isolate the air outside the box, protecting the material inside the box from air gases such as water, oxygen, and sometimes even nitrogen pollution. The last device, called the inert gas glove box, provides an inert gas environment for the material to be handled.
There are three types of inert gas glove boxes:
A) Vacuum glove box: Vacuum the whole box, completely remove the air inside the box, and then use it with high purity gas. The equipment is cheap, and the water and oxygen impurities are high, usually above 100 PPM.
B) Cleaning glove box: The glove box is continuously supplied with an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon, and the gas impurities leaking into the glove box are continuously cleaned and replaced by the glove box. The equipment is cheap, the operating cost is high, and a large amount of inert gas is consumed. The water oxygen impurity content is usually above 10 PPM.
C) Recirculating glove box: The glove box is equipped with a gas purifying gas, and the gas in the glove box is continuously circulated through the gas purifying system to remove water oxygen and organic solvent impurities. Advantages: low operating cost, low water and oxygen content, usually less than 1PPM; including PLC and touch screen, with many functions. The price of the equipment is relatively high.
Here, the three inert gas circulation glove boxes referred to are all called glove boxes.
Generally used in fields with strict requirements for water and oxygen control, such as scientific research, production and other places, the products are widely used in the following fields:
